Discuss safely
Discuss characters and supplied situations, not people in the room. Do not ask for personal or family disclosure, and do not turn discussion into an investigation.
Questions worth asking
What does the story make visible? Where does a character have a choice? What information changes the picture? What would a safe adult do? How can law help, and where are its limits?
For parents and carers
Begin with calm, accurate language. Do not use travel, culture, religion or ethnicity as proof of risk. If you are worried, use the Help route rather than confronting relatives or investigating alone.
